In an effort to expand tourism facilities in Qatar, the country has several hotel projects under development. One of these projects is the Salwa Resort on the Doha – Salwa road, some 15 kilometers from the border with Saudi Arabia. For this project Gulf Cobla dredged 2 Million cubic meter to construct the beaches and a luxury marina whereby all dredged sand is used to reclaim the land on which the hotel resort is to be build. The Main Contractor on this project is the Tasgheel – Besix Joint Venture.
